APSRTC Adds Extra Buses as Holiday Rush Causes Congestion in AP
Residents of Hyderabad, who traveled to their native towns for the Sankranti festival, have begun their return journey, leading to significant traffic congestion on major routes. Before the festival, the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway experienced heavy traffic as people headed to their hometowns. Now, with the conclusion of the celebrations, there is increased vehicular movement on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad route, causing significant delays.
At the Pantangi Toll Plaza in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, traffic towards Hyderabad has come to a standstill due to the high volume of vehicles. All 12 toll booths at the plaza are operational, facilitating the movement of vehicles from Andhra Pradesh into Telangana. Despite these measures, vehicles remain backed up for several kilometers, causing frustration among commuters.
Additionally, the surge in travelers from Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad has resulted in overcrowding at major bus terminals, including those in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, and Guntur. To manage the increased demand, APSRTC has introduced additional bus services from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and other key destinations.
