India Women's Team Smashes Records, Posts Highest ODI Score in History
In a spectacular display of batting prowess, the India women’s cricket team created history by registering their highest-ever One-Day International (ODI) score during the third ODI against Ireland at Rajkot. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Indian team unleashed an aggressive approach, amassing a mammoth total of 435 runs for the loss of five wickets in 50 overs, leaving the Irish bowlers struggling to contain the onslaught.
India’s batting lineup was led by stunning centuries from Pratika Rawal, who scored an impressive 154 runs, and Smriti Mandhana, who contributed a remarkable 135 runs. Adding to the tally, Richa Ghosh scored a quickfire 59, while Tejal chipped in with 28 runs, and Harleen added 15 runs. The Indian batters maintained a high scoring rate throughout the innings, taking full advantage of the conditions.
Among the Irish bowlers, Orla claimed two wickets, while Freya, Kelly, and Dempsey picked up a wicket each. However, they found it difficult to control the flow of runs against the relentless Indian batting onslaught.
This innings marked India’s highest team score in ODIs, and notably, it stands as the fourth-highest total ever recorded in women’s ODI cricket history. The record for the highest ODI total remains with New Zealand’s women’s team, which previously posted scores of 491/4, 455/5, and 430/3 in separate matches.
