KTR Faces Setback in Supreme Court Over Formula E Case
In a setback for Telangana’s former minister and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the Supreme Court rejected his quash petition on Wednesday. The petition, filed by KTR seeking to dismiss a case related to alleged corruption in the Formula E race event, was heard by the apex court in the morning. During the proceedings, the Supreme Court stated that since the investigation was still at a preliminary stage, it would not interfere with the High Court’s earlier order. The bench reminded KTR’s legal counsel that alternative legal remedies were available.
Following this, KTR’s counsel sought permission to withdraw the quash petition, which the Supreme Court allowed. Consequently, KTR withdrew his petition.
The corruption case against KTR was filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with alleged irregularities in organizing the Formula E race in Hyderabad. Initially, KTR approached the Telangana High Court seeking dismissal of the case. However, the High Court dismissed his quash petition, prompting him to move the Supreme Court. After reviewing the matter, the Supreme Court declined to intervene, resulting in KTR’s withdrawal of his petition.
