Festival Turns Tragic as Two Children Die in Separate Incidents in Chittoor District
Tragedy struck during the Sankranti festival in the combined Chittoor district, with two separate incidents leading to the untimely deaths of two young boys, casting a pall of gloom over their families.
According to reports, in Chandragiri town’s B.D. Colony, a boy named Sameer was flying kites along with a friend when he accidentally fell and sustained injuries. His family rushed him to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, a shocking incident followed when Sameer’s maternal uncle, angered by the situation, locked him in a room and left. Terrified by the threat of being beaten upon his uncle’s return, Sameer, aged 12, tragically hanged himself.
In a separate incident in Madanapalle village, another boy lost his life due to electrocution while flying kites. He came into contact with a live electrical wire during the activity, leading to his immediate death.
Both incidents have plunged the families into deep grief, turning what was supposed to be a festive celebration into a period of mourning.
