Three Star Players Competing for Team India Captaincy – Who Will Take Charge?
Jasprit Bumrah, the current vice-captain, is seen as a strong candidate for the role. He even captained the team for one match during the Border-Gavaskar series. However, due to recurring fitness issues, the selectors are reportedly reluctant to hand him permanent captaincy responsibilities.
Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has also emerged as a potential candidate. Sources suggest that coach Gautam Gambhir believes Jaiswal could be a good choice. Nevertheless, since Jaiswal is still in the early phase of his international career, appointing him as captain might attract criticism.
On the other hand, chief selector Ajit Agarkar is said to favor Rishabh Pant for the captaincy role. Although Pant is recognized for his leadership qualities, he has often faced criticism for inconsistent performance—sometimes being too aggressive and at other times appearing to lack accountability.
With Bumrah, Jaiswal, and Pant in the running, it remains uncertain whether the selectors will choose one of these players or introduce a new name into the captaincy debate. This decision has become a hot topic among fans and experts alike.
