Planning to Travel for Sankranti? This Police Alert is for You!

Sankranti is one of the most significant festivals for Telugu people. It is a festival celebrated with great enthusiasm by everyone, regardless of age or social status. Many people who have settled in different regions for jobs, businesses, or other activities make it a point to visit their hometowns during this festival to spend quality time with family, relatives, and friends.

As a result, a large number of houses in urban areas remain locked during the festival. Several localities in cities appear deserted due to people leaving for their native places. Unfortunately, this provides an opportunity for burglars, who take advantage of the situation by breaking into locked homes and committing thefts.

In light of these circumstances, the Telangana Police have issued important safety guidelines for those planning to leave their homes during the festival season.

To protect homes from potential burglaries, the police have advised citizens to follow several precautions. These include:

Installing CCTV cameras around the house and ensuring they are in proper working condition.
Leaving some lights on before locking the house to create an illusion of occupancy.
Avoiding the storage of valuable items such as gold and cash inside the house.
Using curtains to cover the main door and windows to prevent outsiders from noticing that the house is locked.
Informing neighbors about their travel plans and requesting them to keep an eye on the property.
Avoiding leaving cupboard or drawer keys inside the house.

Additionally, the police have recommended residents to:

Provide their address and phone number to the local police station before leaving.
Avoid parking vehicles on the roadside and instead park them within the premises.
Monitor CCTV footage online periodically while away.

The Telangana Police have urged citizens to strictly follow these guidelines to ensure the safety of their homes and belongings during the Sankranti festival.
