HMPV Cases Increasing in the Country, Total Reaches Seven

The number of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases, a virus that has raised global concerns, is gradually rising in India. As of yesterday, a total of seven cases have been reported. Two new cases were detected in Nagpur, while earlier, two cases were reported in Bengaluru, and one case each was confirmed in Salem, Ahmedabad, and Chennai. Notably, all the affected individuals are below the age of 13.

Although concerns have emerged over the rising number of HMPV cases, medical experts have assured that the virus is not life-threatening, and there is no need for panic. They stated that the virus has been identified in various countries in the past and clarified that there is no requirement for antibiotics in treating it.
