Gannavaram Airport to Be Modernized with Kuchipudi Theme: CM Chandrababu
During his visit to Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced an ambitious development vision for the region. Speaking to the media, he explained that the “Swarna Kuppam Vision-2029” document was prepared with the objective of repaying the debt of gratitude to the people of Kuppam who have consistently supported him. “The vision document focuses on ten key areas, including poverty eradication, industrial growth, employment generation, skill development centers, and education for all,” he stated.
Highlighting upcoming infrastructure projects, Chandrababu revealed plans to modernize Gannavaram Airport with a unique theme inspired by Kuchipudi dance, underscoring the region's rich cultural heritage. He added that a cargo airport would soon be established in Kuppam, which would significantly boost local commerce. He also emphasized his commitment to ensuring a pollution-free environment and improving healthcare facilities by setting up a super-specialty hospital in collaboration with Tata Group for advanced medical services.
Allocation for Kuppam Municipality Development
The Chief Minister announced a fund allocation of ₹92.22 crore for Kuppam municipality development. This includes ₹22 crore for the completion of the NTR Sports Complex, which had reportedly become a hotspot for antisocial activities over the past five years.
Additionally, ₹20 crore will be spent on establishing a modern drainage system, and ₹10 crore will be utilized for constructing ten junctions and beautifying main roads. The government has also sanctioned ₹3 crore for streetlights and ₹19 crore for park development in Kuppam.
Road Infrastructure and Dairy Industry Expansion
Chandrababu asserted that no potholes should be visible on roads in Kuppam constituency. Accordingly, ₹34.27 crore has been granted for road development and repair works. In a significant boost to the local economy, 41 acres and 21 cents of land in Shantipuram have been allocated for the establishment of a Mother Dairy unit at a cost of ₹105 crore, expected to create 4,000 jobs. Additionally, the Srija Mahila Milk Production Unit will generate another 4,000 employment opportunities.
Temple Renovation and Women's Empowerment Initiatives
To promote tourism and preserve local heritage, ₹22 crore has been allocated for temple renovation in Kuppam. Chandrababu highlighted his efforts toward women’s empowerment through DWCRA groups, adding that the government, in partnership with ALIP, will provide training to women in various production units to support their financial independence.
