HYDRA Police Station to Be Set Up in Hyderabad, Orders Issued

The Telangana government has made a significant decision to establish the HYDRA police station, issuing formal orders today. The new police station will be set up in the B-Block of Buddha Bhavan in Hyderabad. Officials confirmed that preparations are underway, and the police station will commence operations shortly.

To grant HYDRA extensive powers, the government has already released a gazette notification. The primary objective behind HYDRA's creation is to safeguard lakes and public assets within the jurisdiction of Hyderabad.

Concerns were raised regarding the legal framework for HYDRA's establishment. In response, the government amended the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act of 1955. As part of this amendment, Section 374-B was introduced, authorizing the government to appoint an officer or create an institution to protect lakes and public properties.
