SP Balasubrahmanyam’s House in Nellore Remains Unutilized

Renowned singer late SP Balasubrahmanyam had donated his house, located on Tipparajuvari Street in Nellore, to the Kanchi Peetham on February 11, 2020, intending it to be used for running a Vedic school. As per the Peetham’s request, SP Balasubrahmanyam also contributed an additional ₹10 lakh to provide necessary facilities. However, nearly five years later, the property remains unused, drawing criticism from various quarters.

Despite SP Balasubrahmanyam’s noble gesture of donating a property valued at over ₹1 crore, critics allege that the Kanchi Peetham has failed to utilize the house for its intended purpose. During a previous event held in Nellore, the head of the Kanchi Peetham had assured that the house would be used to promote ‘Veda-Nada’ learning. Nevertheless, five years have passed, and the promised initiatives have yet to materialize. Fans of the late singer expressed their disappointment, lamenting that the once-vibrant house now stands in darkness, devoid of any activity or even basic maintenance.

Responding to the criticism, Nandakishore, the manager of the Kanchi Peetham’s Nellore branch, stated that they initially started the Vedic school with ten students at the donated residence. However, he explained that they faced challenges due to inadequate facilities, particularly the unsuitable conditions of the temporary shed on the terrace where the students stayed. Consequently, the students had to be relocated to another school. As a result, no activities have been conducted at the house in recent years. Nandakishore further mentioned that they are currently exploring ways to bring the house into effective use in the future.
