Fourth Indian Batter to Achieve Another Rare Record
This series marked Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden international tour to Australia, where he impressed with consistent performances. In the first Test at Perth, Jaiswal scored a century and amassed a total of 391 runs across five Tests, averaging 43.44. He emerged as India’s top run-scorer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series.
Jaiswal also entered an elite list of Indian batters with the highest aggregate runs in their debut Test series in Australia. He became the fourth Indian player to achieve this milestone, following Murali Vijay, who scored 482 runs in the 2014-15 series, Virender Sehwag with 464 runs in 2003-04, and the legendary Sunil Gavaskar, who scored 450 runs in 1977-78.
