Nara Lokesh to Launch Midday Meal Scheme for Intermediate Students from Tomorrow

In an effort to strengthen intermediate education in the state, Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Education and IT, has initiated several constructive measures. Among these, the government has decided to implement the 'Dokka Seethamma Midday Meal Scheme' for intermediate students across 475 government junior colleges. This scheme is aimed at improving student attendance and academic performance in government institutions. A total of 1,48,419 students studying in these colleges will benefit from the program.

The midday meal scheme will be officially launched tomorrow (January 4) by Minister Lokesh at the Government Junior College in Payakapuram, Vijayawada. Ministers, MLAs, and other officials are expected to participate in the statewide event.

Out of the 475 junior colleges, 398 colleges will be linked to nearby government schools where the meals will be prepared. The remaining 77 colleges will be served through centralized kitchens. For the implementation of this scheme, the government has allocated ₹27.39 crores for the current year and plans to spend ₹85.84 crores in the upcoming academic year.
