Telugu Achievers Jyothi Yarraji and Jeevanji Deepthi Honored with Arjuna Awards
The Central Government has announced the National Sports Awards for this year, with two Telugu athletes among the recipients of the prestigious Arjuna Awards. Jyothi Yarraji, excelling in athletics, and Jeevanji Deepthi, a para-athlete, have been selected for this honor. Jyothi Yarraji hails from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, while Jeevanji Deepthi is from the erstwhile Warangal district in Telangana.
This year, a total of 32 athletes have been chosen for the Arjuna Awards, including these two outstanding sports personalities. Meanwhile, the Khel Ratna Award will be conferred on Manu Bhaker, Gukesh, Praveen Kumar, and Harmanpreet Singh.
For the Lifetime Achievement Arjuna Award, Sucha Singh (Athletics) and Muralikant Petkar (Para-Swimming) have been selected. Coaches Subhash Rana (Para-Shooting), Deepali Deshpande (Shooting), and Sandeep Sangwan (Hockey) will receive the Dronacharya Award.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports unveiled the list of National Sports Awards 2024 winners today (Thursday). The awards ceremony will take place on January 17 at 11 AM at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will present the honors to the winners in a special event.
