Centre Allocates Land for Manmohan Singh Memorial, Yet Congress Politicizes the Issue: Kishan Reddy
Union Minister Kishan Reddy has announced that the central government has allocated land for a memorial dedicated to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He clarified that this allocation adheres to the established protocols for memorials of former prime ministers. However, he alleged that the Congress party is politicizing the matter, which he described as disheartening.
The Congress party had earlier criticized the BJP government, accusing it of disrespecting Manmohan Singh by conducting his funeral at Nigambodh Ghat instead of an official cremation site. Kishan Reddy responded sharply to these allegations, stating that the land allocation for the memorial has been duly communicated to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and members of Manmohan Singh's family by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Despite this, Kishan Reddy claimed, the Congress continues to engage in political tactics.
Kishan Reddy also accused the Congress of neglecting and disrespecting non-dynastic leaders such as former Prime Ministers P.V. Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh, as well as senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee. "History shows how the Congress party repeatedly betrayed and humiliated such stalwarts," he alleged. While the Congress has expressed condolences on Manmohan Singh’s death, Kishan Reddy said it is important to remember the injustices they committed against him.
