TTD Makes Key Decision on Telangana Public Representatives’ Recommendation Letters for Darshan

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to allow recommendation letters from public representatives in Telangana for devotees seeking darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. According to the decision, such letters will be permitted twice a week.

The move follows recent debates over the non-acceptance of recommendation letters from Telangana public representatives. This issue had drawn criticism from various quarters, including Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister Srinivas Goud, as well as Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from the ruling Congress party. Minister Konda Surekha expressed dissatisfaction earlier today, alleging that Telangana devotees were being treated unfairly in accessing darshan privileges.

In light of these concerns, the TTD revisited the matter. A majority of members within the TTD board advocated for granting approval to such recommendation letters from Telangana representatives. Consequently, the TTD decided to accept these letters twice a week, though an official announcement on the matter is awaited.
