Statewide Protest Against Electricity Tariff Hike on December 27 Must Be a Success: Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy
Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, State Coordinator of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), has urged party cadres to ensure the success of the protests and submission of petitions planned on December 27 against the electricity tariff hike imposed by the coalition government. Addressing a teleconference with district party presidents from the YSRCP central office on Wednesday, he emphasized the need to mobilize public support against the increase in electricity charges.
Sajjala criticized the coalition government for burdening the public with ₹15,000 crore in additional costs within just six months of assuming power. He called for demonstrations and the submission of petitions demanding the rollback of the increased electricity tariffs. He instructed constituency in-charges to treat this program as a priority.
According to Sajjala, regional coordinators and district presidents have already convened meetings with party workers to prepare for the protests. He noted that YSRCP has launched the "Porubata" posters across all districts to raise awareness. Sajjala claimed that the protests are already receiving significant public support and reiterated the party’s commitment to addressing public issues responsibly.
He highlighted that the electricity tariff hike is affecting all sections of society, leading to widespread opposition. Sajjala asserted that many groups and organizations are ready to participate in the YSRCP-led protests. He called on these public organizations to join hands with the party in staging large-scale demonstrations.
