Stampede Incident at Sandhya Theater: MLA Kunamneni’s Controversial Remarks on Bouncers
CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao emphasized the need for significant reforms in the film industry, particularly calling for changes in the portrayal of villains as heroes. Kunamneni made these remarks after visiting Sriteja, a young victim of the stampede incident, at KIMS Hospital in Secunderabad today. He inquired about the boy’s health condition with the attending doctors, who reported that while his condition remains critical, he is gradually recovering.
Speaking on the occasion, Kunamneni credited the prompt CPR administered by police officers immediately after the stampede at Sandhya Theater for saving Sriteja’s life. He added that the incident has escalated into a contentious issue between the film industry and the government and urged all parties to refrain from politicizing the matter.
Kunamneni criticized the behavior of bouncers, alleging that they act like thugs, which he claimed leads to such unfortunate incidents. He demanded the abolishment of the bouncer system, asserting this stance on behalf of the Communist Party. Additionally, Kunamneni expressed concern over the censor board’s approval process, lamenting that while films with social messages face scrutiny, movies that glorify rowdyism and undermine the police system are granted approvals.
