Debate Needed on Who Recognized Ambedkar: CM Chandrababu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need for a discussion on who played a pivotal role in recognizing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Speaking to his cabinet colleagues, he advised caution while addressing sensitive topics, noting that even well-intentioned remarks could be misinterpreted. He recalled how his earlier comments on agriculture were distorted in the media, suggesting he had labeled farming a burden.

Highlighting historical context, Chandrababu Naidu pointed out that Dr. Ambedkar did not receive due recognition during the Congress regime. He reminded that Ambedkar's electoral defeat also occurred under Congress rule. He credited former Prime Minister V.P. Singh for installing Ambedkar's statue in the Parliament complex. “A debate should occur on who truly recognized Ambedkar,” he remarked.

This statement came amid Congress’ fierce criticism of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Ambedkar. A scuffle between BJP and Congress MPs in Parliament left several injured and hospitalized. Against this backdrop, Chandrababu Naidu's comments gained significant attention.

Performance Review of Ministers and MLAs

CM Chandrababu Naidu stressed that there was no room for complacency in the coalition government. He revealed that an IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System) survey was being conducted to gather public feedback on the performance of ministers and MLAs.

He disclosed that only three ministers—Nimmala Ramanaidu, Gummidi Sandhya Rani, and Kondapalli Srinivas—had submitted their six-month performance appraisals. He urged ministers to increase field visits instead of confining themselves to their offices.

Additionally, Chandrababu Naidu expressed dissatisfaction over the underutilization of social media by ministers. He advised them to engage in value-based politics and avoid any vengeful conduct.
