Heavy Rain Alert for These AP Districts Today
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu due to a low-pressure area advancing towards the coast. This system is expected to intensify into a deep depression within the next 24 hours, moving towards northern Tamil Nadu and southern coastal Andhra Pradesh, bringing heavy rains and strong winds up to 55 km/h along the coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture out to sea due to rough conditions.
Rain Forecast for Today: Due to the low-pressure system, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and Kakinada. Additionally, heavy rains are forecasted for Srikakulam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, and Tirupati districts. Light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in the remaining districts.
Yesterday, several areas also experienced rainfall. Weather experts noted that changing patterns are causing low-pressure systems that typically cross the coast in Tamil Nadu to now impact the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. Another low-pressure area is predicted to form near the Andaman Islands by the end of this month.
