Perni Jayasudha Godown: Not 3,000 Bags, but 4,840 Bags of Rice Missing - Minister Nadendla
State Minister for Civil Supplies and Food, Nadendla Manohar, revealed that a total of 4,840 rice bags, not 3,000 as initially suspected, went missing from the JS Godown owned by Perni Jayasudha, wife of YSRCP leader and former minister Perni Nani. He stated that police, revenue, and civil supplies departments are conducting a thorough investigation into the large-scale misappropriation of ration rice intended for public distribution.
The minister accused the perpetrators of attempting to divert ration rice and destroy related evidence. He expressed outrage, stating, "They seem to think paying for the missing rice will resolve the issue." He confirmed that criminal cases have been registered and warned that those responsible will face strict punishment.
Committee Investigation and Findings:
A three-member committee was formed to investigate the missing stock. On December 4, the Joint Collector obtained preliminary data from the stock register. Following this, on December 10, the Civil Supplies Managing Director imposed a double penalty as per the law, blacklisted JS Godown, and filed a police complaint for criminal action.
Attempts to Tamper with Records:
The management of JS Godown attributed the stock shortage to a technical issue at the weighbridge. However, the minister dismissed this explanation, pointing out that the nearby Sathya Warehouse, which uses the same system, reported no such issues.
Investigations revealed deliberate tampering with stock registers and weighbridge records to cover up the irregularities. An FIR has already been registered based on the findings. Official reports confirmed a deficit of 243 metric tons, equivalent to 4,840 rice bags.
Minister Nadendla Manohar emphasized that JS Godown, handed over to the Civil Supplies Department in 2021, failed to account for the missing stock. "This is a blatant misuse of public resources for personal gain," he stated.
