Intense Rainfall Predicted in North Andhra Due to Bay of Bengal Low Pressure
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) reported that a low-pressure system has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal. An associated surface cyclonic circulation has also developed, extending over the same region. According to APSDMA, the system is likely to intensify further over the next 48 hours and move northwestward toward the Tamil Nadu coast.
As a result, several districts in North Andhra Pradesh are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on December 18. APSDMA forecasted intense rainfall in parts of Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and Anakapalli districts.
Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is likely in Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri, Konaseema, East and West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, Annamayya, and YSR districts.
