High Court Dismisses Petition to Halt Release of Pushpa 2

The Telangana High Court has dismissed a petition filed to stop the release of the movie Pushpa 2. The petitioner, Sararapu Srisailam, had argued that the movie, based on red sandalwood smuggling, promotes illegal activities.

Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya, presiding over the case, rejected the plea after hearing arguments from the Deputy Solicitor General representing the Censor Board. It was clarified that the film was approved for release only after implementing suggested changes.

The High Court ruled that a movie cannot be banned based on speculative allegations. Additionally, the court fined the petitioner for wasting judicial time. The penalty amount was directed to be donated to organizations working for women affected by trafficking and child welfare.
