Adani Case: My Name is Not Involved, Will Pursue Defamation Suit – Jagan
YSRCP Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has responded to the controversy surrounding the Adani case, which has been making headlines across the country. Jagan stated that his name is not mentioned anywhere in the case filed against Adani. He clarified that industrialists often meet with Chief Ministers and that governments work to attract businesses to their states. Jagan revealed that Adani met him several times during the five-year YSRCP regime.
Jagan criticized the false allegations being spread about his meetings with Adani. He asserted that the power purchase agreements (PPAs) were exclusively between the state government and SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) and that no third party was involved. He declared his intention to file a defamation suit against those spreading false claims about him.
Jagan highlighted that the power purchase agreement signed during his government’s tenure was the most affordable in the state’s history. The unit cost of power was reduced from ₹5.10 to ₹2.49, which he argued led to savings of nearly ₹1 lakh crore. He questioned whether creating such economic benefits for the state should not be considered a significant achievement. Jagan further asked what critics would have said if such an advantageous deal had been ignored.
He reiterated that power at such a low cost had never been procured before. Criticizing the present Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan accused him of spreading misinformation knowingly. He questioned the ethicality of Naidu’s actions and alleged that while his government aimed to save ₹1 lakh crore, Naidu’s agreements resulted in losses of ₹80,000 crore for the state.
