India Voices Concern Over Arrest of ISKCON Guru Chinmay Krishna Das in Bangladesh

India has strongly responded to the arrest of ISKCON Guru Chinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari by the Bangladeshi authorities. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has raised concerns over the safety of minority Hindus in Bangladesh. Chinmay Krishna Das had participated in a rally last month, during which he allegedly made remarks about the Bangladeshi flag, as reported by Bangladeshi media.

He was arrested by the police at Dhaka airport and has been denied bail by the court. Various organizations have protested against his arrest in Bangladesh.

Expressing concern over his arrest and bail denial, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that attacks on peaceful protestors from minority groups are unacceptable. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal urged Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety of Hindus and minorities in the country.

India further highlighted that extremist groups in Bangladesh have been targeting Hindus and minorities, and this arrest has added to the tension. The Ministry also pointed out ongoing incidents of looting, destruction, and desecration of temples in Bangladesh, emphasizing that arresting those engaging in lawful, peaceful protests is unfortunate.

ISKCON Seeks Central Government’s Intervention
ISKCON officials have appealed to the Indian government to intervene in the matter, claiming that the arrest was based on false accusations. They have urged the authorities to take immediate steps for Chinmay Krishna Das's release. ISKCON reiterated its identity as a movement of peace and devotion.
