YS Sharmila slams Jagan for dramas on AP Special status, repeated electricity charge hikes
Amaravati: YS Sharmila, the chief of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), has criticized Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for allegedly enacting dramas over the issue of Special Status for Andhra Pradesh. She accused him of pretending to orchestrate mass resignations to fight for Special Status, only to perform a drama. Sharmila pointed out that the 23 Members of Parliament (MPs) from the YSR Congress Party, who won the elections, did not speak about the Special Status issue in Parliament even for a day.
She promised that if the Congress comes to power, it would grant Special Status to Andhra Pradesh for ten years. Sharmila also criticized the Jagan government for raising electricity charges seven times during its tenure. She made these remarks while speaking at a meeting with Congress leaders in a convention center in Vijayawada.
Sharmila accused Jagan of compromising the state's interests. She is scheduled to travel to Delhi tomorrow to discuss with senior Congress leaders the list of candidates for the upcoming elections. There is a possibility that the list of candidates could be released the day after tomorrow, as preparations are reportedly complete. Sharmila revealed that they have received 1,500 applications from individuals wishing to contest the elections from the Congress party. A survey will be conducted on the performance of the candidates before finalizing the list.
