Godavari floods: Water level reaches 45 feet at Bhadrachalam on Monday

Kukunoor: Godavari flood is rising again. The Godavari water level reached 45 feet at Bhadrachalam at 6 pm on Monday. After crossing 43 feet, the first danger warning was issued. Meanwhile, as the Godavari is rising, there is concern among farmers in the merged mandals of Kukunoor and Velerupadu.

Farmers lost their cotton crops due to the Godavari floods two months ago. Again, when the pepper is being cultivated, there is a concern due to the Godavari floods. Every time the Godavari water level rises, they are incurring losses.

Farmers say that the chili crop was submerged in 500 acres in the Kukkunur mandal. On Monday morning, Velerupadu, Rudramakota and Velerupadu-Koida main road was flooded with rainwater and traffic came to a halt. The roads have been closed since Sunday afternoon.

Due to the heavy rains in the upper reaches of the Godavari river for the last four days, the Godavari river is overflowing with flood water. The Godavari, which rose by an inch to two inches per hour during the last floods, created terror, but now the water level is rising at more than a foot per hour.

The people of Godavari coastal villages, who were alarmed by the severity of the Godavari flood, evacuated the villages on Sunday night itself. The people of Repakagommu village, who have completely swept away in the previous floods, reached the village after cleaning the remaining houses a week ago. In the meantime, as the flood increased again, this time they took precautions and evacuated the entire village and went to safer areas.
