Permission denied for farmers’ maha padayatra
The DGP stated in the order that “Farmers have asked permission for maha padayatra from September 12, with more than 200 participants. If the number increases, separate groups will be formed with 200 persons in each group.” The DGP said that they have informed the request to various district police officials and collected their opinions. After checking their opinions, the DGP denied permission for the yatra.
Reminding the farmers’ padayatra last year from Amaravathi to Tirumala, the DGP said that they have violated the rules and 71 criminal cases also registered against them. The DGP said that it is quite impossible to provide security to this large number of participants. Besides, the padayatra will pass via Srikakulam, where clashes between two major political parties are a regular, he added. Considering all these issues, permission was denied to the farmers’ maha padayatra, the DGP explained.
