Attack on TDP leader, lost his eye

Vijayawada, September 4: YSRCP leaders allegedly attacked and tried to kill TDP State secretary and Vijayawada former corporator Chennupati Gandhi. Due to the intervention of the locals, they left him. But Gandhi’s right eye was totally damaged in the incident that took place on Saturday evening at 9th division in Vijayawada. 
 
After primary treatment at LV Prasad eye hospital in Vijayawada, he was shifted to Hyderabad LV Prasads, as suggested by party chief Chandrababu Naidu.
 
Chennupati Gandhi’s wife Kantisri is the corporator of 9th division. Gandhi was supervising pipeline leakage works at about 5 pm on Saturday evening. YSRCP leaders came to the spot and picked up an argument over TDP leaders supervising works during their party rule. 
 
Party leaders Gadde Kalyan, Valluri Eshwar Prasad, Subbu and another four attacked Gandhi with sticks and stones and Gandhi’s eye was damaged when they attacked with a iron rod. The ruling party leaders reportedly threatened to kill Gandhi.
 
When some locals intervened, the YSRCP leaders left the place. 
 
Police recorded the victim’s statement and filed a case. CRPF constables were deployed in Patamatalanka area.
 
TPP leader Nara Lokesh condemned the attack on Gandhi and demanded to arrest those, who attacked their leader.
