PM Modi touches feet of freedom fighter Pasala Krishnamurthy's daughter
West Godavari (Andhra Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Andhra Pradesh on Monday and took part in the 125th birth anniversary feted of freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraj. On the occasion, Modi met the family members of the late Pasala Krishnamurthy, a prominent freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh. He not only met the 90-year-old Pasala Krishna Bharati, daughter of the warrior but also touched her feet and took her blessings. Modi was also blessed by her sister and niece.
The freedom fighter was born in 1900 at Paschim Viparru village in Tadepalligudem taluka of West Godavari district. Pasala Krishnamurthy joined the Congress party in 1921, along with his wife. A Gandhian, he participated in the Salt Satyagraha movement and served a year in jail. He passed away in 1978.
Modi, after taking part in the BJP National Executive meeting in Hyderabad, went to AP and participated in the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Alluri Sitharamaraju and unveiled the 30 feet statue of the warrior in Bhimavaram of West Godavari district.
