Formation of new districts: Prakasam is biggest in AP, Vizag smallest

After bifurcation of 13 districts into 26 in Andhra Pradesh, Prakasam is the biggest district and Visakhapatnam is smallest. The AP government has created 26 districts with 72 revenue divisions. Among all districts, Nellore has highest population followed by Prakasam district. Both districts have 38 mandals each. 
 
Population wise, Nellore, Prakasam, Kurnool, Anantapur, and NTR districts are occupying first five spots after formation of new districts. More than 23 per cent of population is concentrated in these five districts as per 2011 Census. While in geographical area, Prakasam district is spread over 14,322 square kilometres and Alluri Seetharama Raju district is in second place.
