AP CM YS Jagan reviews SEB and EXCISE department works in the state

Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, 19 December 2022: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), and Prohibition and Excise department to sit down weekly once to form strategies and take action to eradicate ID liquor, narcotics in the state during the review meeting held at the camp office in Tadepalli on Monday.
 
The chief minister also instructed the officials to erect massive hoardings in front of every college and university in the state regarding the SEB’s toll-free number to create awareness and make colleges narcotics-free in Andhra Pradesh. “We want to send our children to the colleges, which are narcotics-free,” said Chief Minister YS Jagan.
 
Directing the SEB to effectively collaborate with the excise department and to put a mechanism in place, the Chief Minister said, “SEB should use the reports of the excise department and vice-versa. Both the departments should sit together weekly once and come up with an actual plan to eradicate the ID liquors in the state.”
 
CM directed the officials to explore options to further improvise the Disha APP and conduct mock drills to create more safety features in it. Make use of Mahila police at the village level to combat ID liquor, narcotics, and other substances. Nowhere in the country where they have deployed the Mahila police at the village level for various purposes and we should be a model state, said CM YS Jagan.
 
Excise department should do all the data analytics regarding the sale of liquor and growth rate to devise strategies to eliminate illegal liquor. Meanwhile CM also asked the SEB to sit weekly once with district SPs regarding narcotics, the Disha app, and the effective functioning of Mahila police at the district level. Excise department should support all the initiatives taken by SEB also says CM YS Jagan.
 
CM YS Jagan has listened to the officials who told that SEB should also have powers to check the illegal liquors at shops after receiving complaints. The chief minister has asked the officials to sit together and come up with guidelines. Regarding the alternative livelihoods provided by the state for people who were giving up the ID liquor, Ganja, and other substance, the officials said that the initiatives by the AP government were lauded by the Union Government during a national conference recently.
 
Officials said that in the last few months, 2093 villages were converted into green villages in various categories and provided alternative livelihood to the people who were dependent on illegal substances. The CM directed the officials to further develop local intelligence to combat narcotics, effective functioning of SEB toll-free number and call centers, eradicate ID liquors, and so on. Before the next review meeting, CM directed the officials to put all the instructions in place without fail and come up with the intelligence report on the effectiveness of the system in place
