Vedanta’s VGCB Donates Medical Equipment to Vizag’s King George Hospital
Vizag, 24 June 2022: In an attempt to boost health infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, Vedanta’s Vizag General Cargo Berth (VGCB) has provided medical support to the city’s King George Hospital. As part of its CSR initiative, the company donated a Cardioline Holter Monitor to the Cardiology Department of the hospital. The device was handed over to the hospital Superintend Dr. P. Mythili by VGCB Chief Executive Officer Mr. C. Sateesh Kumar. Also present at the event were Dr. Malladi Srinivasa Rao, Head of Cardiology Department, King George Hospital, and Dr. Shirin Rahman, Local Influencer. Dr. Srinivas thanked VGCB for the benevolent gesture and said that the medical device will benefit patients as well as students.
A Holter Monitor is a portable device that is used for assessing the cardiac monitoring -electrical activity of the cardiovascular system. The device consists of a recorder that can record the electrocardiography for seven days. Health is one of the major thrust areas of Vedanta’s CSR initiatives. The larger objective of this initiative is to create quality healthcare facilities for the communities around and to support upgradation of hospital infrastructure for PG education.
Mr. Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO, Vedanta- Iron & Steel Sector, said, “At Vedanta, our constant endeavour is to support holistic development of communities around through our structured CSR programs, and we believe quality healthcare facility is extremely important aspect of community development. This initiative is yet another step in our strive to contribute towards upgradation of medical infrastructure for the larger benefits of the people of Vizag & peripheral areas.”
Dr. Malladi Srinivasa Rao, Head, Cardiologist Department, King George Hospital, said, ““We are extremely grateful to the benevolent gesture rendered by Vizag General Cargo Berth (Vedanta) by donating the valuable Holter recorder and analyser to the department of Cardiology, King George Hospital, Vishakhapatnam. This will be of great help to the poor and needy patients. Normally this test costs approximately about 2000-3000 per case outside. This is extremely helpful not only in the patient services but also for the PG education and National Medical Council Approval purposes. On behalf of the Cardiologist department, we all are very much indebted to this noble deed”

Vedanta’s VGCB is supporting people from Vizag and periphery through various initiatives such as recently launched drinking water project which is benefitting around 2000 households from Visakhapatnam. As part of the drinking water project 4000 LPH RO plant was installed to provide access to clean & safe drinking water to communities around. Apart from this Vedanta’s VGCB supported communities to combat COVID-19 pandemic through various community outreach activities.
