The government of India has issued an advisory to all the States and UTs to study the Telangana model and consider installing flow control valves in their distribution networks as is done in the Mission Bhagiratha program to ensure equity and efficiency in the water supply.

Ministry of Jal Shakti Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation in its advisory dated 16.07.2020 cited how Mission Bhagiratha had addressed the issue of over-drawal of water from a distribution system by individual households using small motors by installing a control valve that limits the flow to 5 liters per minute.
