Telangana Governor visits NIMS today

Telangana Governor Tamilisai visited Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta, Hyderabad today. 
Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor, and Chancellor today (08.06.2020 – 03.00 pm) interacted with the functionaries of P.V. Narsimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University, Hyderabad through videoconference.
Prof. S.T. Viroji Rao, Dean of Faculties, PVNRT Veterinary University elaborately explained through PPT, the history, mandate, colleges of veterinary sciences, dairy technology & fisheries, academic and administrative activities of the University, various initiatives were undertaken to improve quality access, infrastructure, bilateral agreements and joint research programs with National/International Universities/Institutions, Development/initiatives, financial position, externally funded projects, the action is taken to augment quality and dynamism in syllabus/courses to cater the needs of industry/market, technologies developed by the University, extension activities, counseling and the facility of e-library etc. The University functionaries also apprised the Governor about the financial constraints and vacant faculty positions, etc.

Governor assured that Raj Bhavan and Telangana State Council of Higher Education will prepare progress card of every State University, a blueprint, after interacting with all the State Universities and see that all the problems are addressed to.
The Governor advised the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University Functionaries to –
(i)    make utilize the very big resource of University Alumni by creating a database and getting connected with the Alumni in an organized manner by reaching each one of them and to give a clarion call to the pride Alumni to support younger generation coming from the parent University;
(ii)    prepare an action plan to deal with the post-COVID-19 situation for maintaining social distancing, and hygiene in hostels;
(iii)improve online classes, online internal assessment, online viva-voce, and online examinations;
(iv) make aware of the students the method of online examinations;    
(v) enroll all colleges as proud partners of Indian Red Cross Society;
(vi) add new innovative and job oriented polytechnic courses in collaboration with industries; and
(vii) concentrate more on research;
Governor while applauding the good work carried out by the functionaries of the University, and technologies developed by the University appealed all the functionaries and faculty members of Open University to strive hard for getting a good rank to the university in the world rankings.
