Ujaas Menstrual Health Express initiates vibrant conversations in Andhra Pradesh

The Ujaas Menstrual Health Express, a groundbreaking initiative led by Ms. Advaitesha Birla and backed by the Aditya Birla Education Trust, has commenced its transformative work in the vibrant state of Andhra Pradesh. Having previously left an indelible mark across Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, this distinctive program brings a fresh wave of change by fostering awareness of menstrual health in Andhra Pradesh. The initiative has already covered various localities, including Hyderabad, Vikharabad, Sangareddy, Visakhapatnam, Gnanapuram, Durgapuram, Arilova, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam etc in Andhra Pradesh, conducting dynamic awareness workshops and a proactive distribution drive of free sanitary napkins in Andhra Pradesh. 

Through this campaign Ujaas is actively reaching out to government schools, colleges, and local communities, with a focus on empowering adolescent girls and women. The local outreach is efficiently executed by Ujaas' esteemed NGO partners Divya Disha and Nirmaan Organization.  As part of this outreach, Ujaas also collects critical data about the diverse cultures, practices, and beliefs surrounding menstruation in the state. This data undergoes thorough analysis to identify practical interventions and solutions, addressing the myths and stigmas associated with menstruation.

As the year unfolds, the impact of this collaborative campaign is expected to be profound, leaving a lasting impression on the menstrual health landscape in Andhra Pradesh and its various cities. The Ujaas Menstrual Express Van, inaugurated in Mumbai, has successfully traversed the length and breadth of the country, amplifying its impact nationwide.

Driven by its dedication to dispel taboos and misconceptions surrounding menstruation, Ujaas remains steadfast in its mission to foster nationwide awareness of menstrual health and hygiene, making a significant contribution to societal development. The 'Ujaas Menstrual Health Express' marks a pioneering effort in India, aiming to reach 25 states and 107 cities, covering a vast distance exceeding 25,0000 kilometers. At the heart of this initiative lies the specially designed Menstrual Health Express Van, strategically traversing diverse regions and communities. More than just a vehicle, this specially designed van symbolizes change, breaking down barriers, and nurturing a society where menstrual health is acknowledged as a fundamental right rather than a taboo.

Ujaas strives to distribute more than 250,000 menstrual pads across the country, showcasing the organization's unwavering dedication to tackling menstrual health obstacles, empowering women, and fostering positive change within communities.
