Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, 27 September 2022: To provide immediate healthcare to animals in rural areas, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed officials to resemble the family doctor concept launched in the state for humans, to animals as well. On Tuesday, he noted this while reviewing the Animal Husbandry department at the camp office in Tadepalli. CM YS Jagan stressed the fact that animals also need to be catered to and instructed officials to deploy two veterinary doctors per Mandal so that each village is covered and the concept of a family doctor for animals also will be incorporated.

    The officials briefed the chief minister on the measures taken to vaccinate, treat and provide necessary facilities to farmers to rear their animals, thus producing quality meat, milk, and eggs that will cater to the state and for export purposes. ‘CM YS Jagan directed officials to ensure that volume of chemicals used should be reduced and incorporate the natural farming practice’. Adding to this, the ‘CM YS Jagan also directed officials to speak with Amul and prepare a comprehensive action plan on how to ensure less usage of chemicals. He also noted that Amul could set up a research lab to study the impact of chemicals on produce quality and how natural farming can be promoted.’
 
In addition, the CM YS Jagan has also instructed officials to lay special focus on creating awareness, guiding, and educating farmers on the type of feed that needs to be fed to the animals and the nutrition factor that needs to be considered. He also said that Veterinary doctors would be appointed at RBKs so that immediate aid can be meted out to the farmers. CM YS Jagan deliberated on setting up of veterinary hospitals in districts to aid the farmers in the future by appointing them for RBKs.
 
To facilitate a better and secure future for the farmers, the officials under the guidance of the Chief Minister are chalking out a plan to issue animal insurance to farmers which would be linked to the health cards that would be issued every year. This would be in the line with how the insurance is being provided to farmers under the agriculture department. This would be more like an Aadhar card for the animals in Andhra Pradesh. The state government has decided to add an addition 165 to the already existing 175 mobile ambulance veterinary clinics (MAVCs) in the state by October-end.
 
The CM YS Jagan has ordered for strict vigilance considering lumpy skin disease cases being reported in the state. He has also asked the officials to take precautionary measures and vaccinate animals at the earliest.
