NATCO Cancer center adopts Dozee, India’s first Contactless Continuous Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) technology

·       High-risk oncology patients requiring close monitoring can now be monitored with minimal human interaction, thus enabling safe identification of early deterioration.
·       This made-in-India technology enabling continuous ward monitoring vastly improves patient safety, care efficiency and clinical outcomes in critical oncology patients
Vijayawada, India, 08 September, 2022: NATCO Cancer Centre, Government General hospital, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh state government’s flagship cancer hospital, today announced the installation of Dozee’s Contactless Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and Early Warning System (EWS) at the hospital. These devices powered by next-generation AI algorithms track vital parameters of patients undergoing cancer treatment and help HCPs identify early clinical deterioration of the patients for timely medical intervention. This helps HCPs to provide better care with improved patient safety and improves the operational efficiency of the nursing staff. This solution is provided to the hospital under the MillionICU initiative of Dozee for transforming public healthcare in India.

High-risk oncology patients undergoing hospital treatments are susceptible to hospital-acquired infections, making it imperative to keep them sufficiently isolated in a safe and contained environment. At the same time, since they are undergoing intensive treatments, they require close and continuous monitoring of their vital parameters. With minimal human intervention, Dozee’s technology can monitor vital parameters such as heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, ECG, and temperature. It also offers an Early Warning System (EWS) that provides alerts to the concerned health care providers for timely intervention. Such critical information can help healthcare professionals make data-backed, swift clinical decisions in real-time, observing the vitals of an oncology patient while undergoing specific chemotherapy treatments.

The NATCO Cancer Centre is part of the State’s comprehensive cancer care roadmap. Close to Rs.45 crore was spent by the NATCO Trust to construct this advanced cancer care hospital, while the Andhra Pradesh State Govt. invested over 25Cr in procuring ultra-modern technology.

Upgrading hospital beds to connected beds with such next-generation sensors coupled with cloud-enabled AI-powered algorithms is one of the most preferred methods to automate patient monitoring in non-ICU wards. Further, Dozee can be integrated into the hospital’s central command system and HMIS.

Shri Naveen Kumar G.S, Special Secretary Digital Health, AP said “In line with the Chief Minister’s vision and Andhra Pradesh Governments’s comprehensive cancer care roadmap, the NATCO Cancer Centre at Guntur has partnered with Dozee to install remote patient monitoring devices to improve the healthcare delivery for cancer patients. Digital interventions in the public healthcare ecosystem will significantly improve the quality of life for Oncology patients while creating the impetus necessary for innovation through Made-in-India technologies."

Dr. Durgaprasad, Professor and Head of Radiation Oncology, NATCO Guntur said, “Cancer patients need constant vital monitoring, timely critical care and at the same time are highly prone to associated infections. By adopting Dozee's contactless patient monitoring,  nurses and doctors can prioritize critical patients as a result of the timely alerts sent out by these devices. Digital health innovation plays a key role in enhancing patient care and addressing burnout in the healthcare workforce.”

“We are excited to work with NATCO Guntur to bring this made-in-India innovation to transform public healthcare in Andhra Pradesh, with a specific focus on improving patient monitoring, bettering patient safety and clinical outcomes for Oncology patients.
We envisage that contactless Remote Patient Monitoring will become an integral part of oncology care in the near future both in hospital and at home,” said Gaurav Parchani, CTO & Co-founder – Dozee

Dozee recently received the ISO 13485:2016 certification in December 2021 from Intertek for its Quality Management System (QMS). This certification is a part of the quality journey with ISO/IEC 27001:2013, Information Security Management.

About Dozee
Dozee is India’s first AI powered contactless Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) & Early Warning System (EWS) for continuous automated patient monitoring in non-ICU wards like Step-down ICU, HDU, VIP Rooms, COVID and general wards. Dozee is supported by the Govt of India through BIRAC. Dozee is transforming the public and private healthcare systems in India with a vision of providing connected health in every bed.

Dozee tracks vital parameters like HR, RR, NiBP, SPO2, Temperature., Sleep quality, sleep apnea (AHI Index) with a clinical grade accuracy of 98.4%. The system is ISO 13485, ISO 27001, IEC 60601 -1-2, RoHS certified and CDSCO registered. USFDA 510 K is in process.
Dozee was started in October 2015 by IIT graduates Mudit Dandwate and Gaurav Parchani and has till date raised over INR 139 crore.
Dozee has also filed several patents on detecting and predicting respiratory, cardiac & neurological patterns & providing in-depth analysis of vital signals for early warning of health deterioration. For more details, please visit: https://www.dozee.health/.

India has a huge shortage of ICU beds, doctors & nurses. Patients on more than 90% of hospital beds in India are monitored sub-optimally with manual spot checks leading to compromised patient safety, clinical outcomes, and huge work overload on an already under resourced healthcare system. Dozee with its innovative contactless remote patient monitoring solution is automating patient monitoring in wards to solve these problems.
