Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reviews revenue mobilisation in the state
Tadepalli, 1 September 2022: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials to put up a huge poster of ACB and SEB with toll-free complaint numbers at all government offices, schools, colleges by October 1, during the resource mobilization review meeting at his camp office in Tadepalli on Thursday.
CM YS Jagan said that the SEB plays an important role in curbing illegal activities and hence said that all colleges should be drug and ganja free by October. In addition to that, the CM YS Jagan has ordered for monitoring and taking action against cultivation of Ganja in the state, but instead gives these cultivators an alternative livelihood. Officials briefed the CM that over 2500 acres of other crops have already been cultivated and the harvested crops would be purchased through GCC. They have taken all kinds of measures to cultivate horticulture crops in 1,600 acres of land.
“Provide them with the necessary seeds and other support for cultivation of alternative crops. Conduct regular raids to keep a check on ganja cultivation. Give RoFR certificates to those who are cultivating different crops and they will be provided aid through Rythu Bharosa,” CM YS Jagan, said.
Meanwhile, the liquor sales have come down in the state with just 278.5 lakh cases being sold in 2021-22 as compared to 384.31 lakh cases in to 2018-19. In 2018-19, beer sales were 277.10 lakh cases, while in 2021-22 it has decreased to 82.6 lakh cases. Even though the sales were less, the revenue has considerably increased. In 2018-19, the revenue from the sale of liquor was Rs.20,128 crore, while in 2021-22, it was Rs. 25,023 crores.
The liquor sales have been well controlled after CM YS Jagan ordered for removing of belt shops and increasing the liquor prices. In the last six months, officials said that a total of 20,127 cases have been registered in connection with the illegal manufacture, transportation, and marijuana. Officials said that 16,027 people were arrested and 1,407 vehicles were seized. Officials briefed the CM that special attention has been paid to the villages where manufacturing is a profession.
“Take appropriate measures to improve the financial conditions of the respective families. Increase self-employment and take steps to get them respectable incomes,” CM YS Jagan, ordered.
Forest department officials have submitted that they have prepared a plan for the sale of 2,640 metric tons of red sanders between the months of October and March. The CM ordered for a continuous check on the process and instructed them to get a third-party member to check the grading of these red sanders.
