Telangana Governor to address GCOT virtual meeting

Hyderabad, 28 September 2020: Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology (GCOT) is conducting a virtual conference from October 1st to 3rd. Telangana governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union minister of state for agriculture Kailash Choudhary, Ms. Nishtha Satyam, Deputy Country Representative, UN Women - India, Bhutan, Srilanka and Maldives at United Nations and others are participating and give their message in this conference. Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology (GCOT) is a not for profit Social Enterprise, founded by the Osmania University Alumni. The main theme of this NGO is to emancipate the life of Rural dwellers. On the occasion of 74th Independence day, Gramodaya Bandhumitra Awards have been announced by this organization. The awards are in recognition of the yeoman service rendered by individuals and institutions to provide succor and uplift the vast majority of our population dependent on agriculture and allied activities for livelihood. The virtual event will be conducted between 4 pm and 8 pm on the said three days. The agenda includes:

•    Launch of technology platform for preparing VILLAGE MONOGRAPHS
•    GLOBAL DECLARATION for a NEW WORLD ORDER
•    GRAMODAYA BANDHU MITRA PURASKAR Awardees Interaction
•    Release of commemorative SOUVENIR profiling the awardees

Prominent speakers in the event are, Gutha Sukhendar Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Legislative Council, Nana Patole ji, Speaker, Maharashtra, B Vinod Kumar, Vice Chairman, Telangana Planning Board, V Prakash Rao, Chairman, Telangana Water Resources, Niranjan Reddy, Agricultural Minister, Dr V Pravin Rao,  Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU, and W R Reddy, Former Director General, National Institute of Rural Development.

GCOT has been spearheaded by Vasanth Kumar Damasthapuram (known as ‘Delhi Vasanth’), an Alumnus of Osmania University and MIT School of Government, Pune. He has been extensively working for the cause of the farmers and undertook a 2,140 Km padayatra in 2007 from his hometown Zaheerabad to New Delhi, to garner the attention of the Central Government to the miserable plight of farmers committing suicides.

GCOT has instituted the “Gramodaya Bandhu Mitra Puraskar” to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and is recognizing the outstanding initiatives of Individuals and Institutions globally, working on Gandhian perspective of Agriculture, Rural Development and self-contained villages. These Awards will be presented annually from this year onwards for exceptional contributions made to the rural economy.  

The panel vetted several individuals and institutions who are bringing about the silent revolution in the rural economy and livelihood and with great difficulty shortlisted the following for their stupendous contribution:
