AP Governor condoles SP Balu’s demise
Vijayawada, September 25: Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan expressed profound grief and sadness at the demise of popular playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam on Friday, after undergoing prolonged treatment at a hospital in Chennai. Governor Harichandan said S.P. Balasubrahmanyam is a household name, not only in the Telugu states but the entire country, as a iconic playback singer in 16 languages, predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam languages. The Governor said Balasubrahmanyam also held the Guinness World Record for recording more than 40,000 songs, the highest number of songs by a singer. Governor Harichandan said Subrahmanyam received several coveted awards such as Padma Bhushan in 2011, six National Film Awards for Best Male Playback singer, 25 Nandi Awards, NTR National Award etc. for his contribution to Indian cinema. Governor Harichandan prayed for peace to the departed soul and offered his heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family.
