Air Quality Monitoring Committee Meeting held at TSPCB Office
The 6th Air Quality Monitoring Committee meeting to review the implementation of the action plan for reducing the air pollution was held in Telangana State Pollution Control Board on 27th June 2020 under the Chairmanship of Rajat Kumar, Principal Secretary EFS&T. The Principal Secretary informed that as per the Air Quality Index the air pollution in Hyderabad is in satisfactory range. An amount of Rs.11 crores were earmarked for setting up 7 continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations for checking air quality, purchase of road sweeping machines for GHMC, and for taking up studies to ascertain sources of air pollution in the city will further enhance the quality of air.
The Committee has decided to focus on the implementation of the lane discipline for free traffic flow and enforcement of BSVI norms for vehicles. TSPCB was also advised to publish air quality data to make people conscious of the air quality. The Committee advised the transport department to prioritize the uptake of the CNG by educational institute buses. The committee also instructed the Industries department to prepare a road map for the shifting of the polluting industries outside the ORR on a priority basis.
The other members of the committee who participated in the meeting are Neetu Prasad, Member Secretary, TSPCB, Commissioner, transport, and CDMA. The representatives from the stakeholder departments viz., GHMC, Transport, Traffic Police, Industries, Oil companies, and agriculture department have participated in the meeting.
