Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, directed by Anil Ravipudi, is a festive family entertainer starring Venkatesh, Meenakshi Choudary, and Aishwarya Rajesh. Produced by Dil Raju under the Sri Venkateshwara Creations banner, the film arrives as a Sankranti treat. Following the massive success of F2 and F3, this movie reunites the same team, aiming for a hat-trick. Let’s see if it lives up to the expectations.

Plot Summary:
Yadagiri Damodarraju (Venkatesh) is an orphan who marries Bhaghyam (Aishwarya Rajesh) from Ramachandrapuram village and becomes the third son-in-law of her family. Six years ago, Damodarraju was a powerful and honest police officer. However, disillusioned by the lack of recognition for his integrity, he quits his job and chooses a peaceful life with his wife and four children. Bhaghyam, who is deeply devoted to her husband, is uneducated but fiercely loyal. Damodarraju's rigid personality, however, creates friction with his in-laws.

Meanwhile, chaos brews as two criminal brothers, Biju Pandey and Papa Pandey, wreak havoc, constantly clashing with their rivals, Billa Naik and Chota Naik. Papa Pandey is imprisoned in Charlapalli Jail, and during this time, a prominent businessman, Satya Akella (Srinivas Avasarala), visits Hyderabad as part of his work. Biju Pandey kidnaps Satya and demands the release of his brother in exchange for Akella’s freedom.

With the crisis escalating, the Chief Minister (Naresh) steps in. Realizing that Damodarraju is the only man capable of handling the situation, the CM assigns the task to police officer Meenakshi (Meenakshi Choudary), who also happens to be Damodarraju’s former lover. Meenakshi promises to convince Damodarraju and bring him on board for the mission.

As Meenakshi enters Damodarraju's life once again, how does Bhaghyam react? How does Meenakshi view Damodarraju, now a devoted husband and father? Can Damodarraju overcome the villains and successfully execute the rescue mission? The answers to these questions form the crux of the story.

Analysis:
The title Sankranthiki Vasthunnam itself gives a clear idea of what the film promises—an engaging celebration of the Sankranti festival. Director Anil Ravipudi captures the essence of rural festivities, showcasing colorful rangolis, kite flying, joint families, and the joyous atmosphere of village life. Building on this vibrant backdrop, the film weaves together a love story and a kidnapping plot, creating a lively narrative.

The story takes an interesting turn when the government urgently needs the expertise of a former police officer like Damodarraju. The entry of his ex-lover Meenakshi into his village triggers the main plot, blending humor and drama as Damodarraju finds himself caught between his wife and his former flame. Anil Ravipudi skillfully balances these scenarios, delivering moments that leave the audience laughing and engaged.

Unlike conventional narratives where the villain’s entry happens early and consistently drives the plot, this film uses its antagonists sparingly. They make brief appearances throughout, with their impact culminating in the climax. The humor in the hero’s interactions with his wife and ex-lover, juxtaposed with the conflict against the villain’s gang, is effectively executed, maintaining a lighthearted tone.

The climax delivers an emotional message about the bond between mentors and disciples, which resonates strongly with the audience, adding depth to the otherwise humor-centric story. This blend of comedy, action, and emotion ensures the film remains entertaining from start to finish.

Performances:
Venkatesh excels in his comic timing, delivering a memorable performance as the no-nonsense yet humorous Damodarraju.
Aishwarya Rajesh portrays the loving yet protective wife effortlessly.
Meenakshi Choudary adds charm and grace as Damodarraju’s ex-girlfriend and a dedicated officer.
Supporting cast members like Naresh, VTV Ganesh, Srinivas Reddy, and others contribute to the comedy, keeping the audience entertained.
The child artist playing Venkatesh’s son deserves special mention for his natural acting.

Technical Aspects:
Direction: Anil Ravipudi stays true to his style, crafting a family-friendly entertainer with ample laughs.
Cinematography: Sameer Reddy captures the rural backdrop beautifully, enhancing the film’s festive feel.
Music: Bheems Ceciroleo’s songs energize the narrative, with the background score amplifying key moments.
Editing: Tammiraju ensures a crisp and engaging pace, keeping the film’s runtime tight.

Final Verdict:
Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is a lighthearted festive entertainer that delivers humor, family drama, and a touch of action. Anil Ravipudi’s ability to blend comedy with emotions, paired with Venkatesh’s strong performance, ensures a fun watch. While it doesn’t delve deeply into villainy or action, the film compensates with its laughter-filled moments and festive appeal.
