I Felt Satisfied After Many Years: Vijayashanthi

At the success meet of her latest film Son of Vyjayanthi, renowned actress Vijayashanthi shared her thoughts on several critical issues including the sustainability of the film industry, the impact of negative reviews, and the importance of giving due respect to actresses.

Vijayashanthi clarified the intent behind some of her past remarks during the event. "When the film industry thrives, it provides employment to many. A large number of people depend on it for their livelihood. With that perspective, I said, 'Do not kill cinema.' My reaction to negative reviews stemmed from the same concern," she explained. She stated that her comments were aimed at protecting the industry and those who depend on it.

Discussing her role in Son of Vyjayanthi, Vijayashanthi said she experienced a deep sense of satisfaction after many years for playing a meaningful character. She took on action scenes in the film as a personal challenge, and for the past year, she followed a strict diet and underwent rigorous physical training to prepare for them. As a result, she said the action sequences appeared more natural on screen. She described the film as one that explores the emotional bond between a mother and her sons.

Simultaneously, Vijayashanthi also addressed the respect actresses deserve in the film industry. "In the past, senior Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao would respectfully address even younger actresses as 'meeru' (a respectful form of 'you'). Watching him, I learned to show respect to others. Actresses work just as hard as actors in this industry. However, sometimes they do not receive the recognition and respect they deserve. There is a need for change in this regard," said Vijayashanthi. She expressed hope that the industry would truly prosper only when everyone is treated with equal respect.
