Chiranjeevi Stopped After Being Told Once... That’s the Spirit!: CPI Narayana

CPI National Secretary Narayana has commented on the involvement of film celebrities in promoting betting apps. During a press meet held at Andhra Bhavan in Delhi, Narayana shared an incident involving megastar Chiranjeevi’s endorsement of Coca-Cola.

Narayana stated, “Chiranjeevi once endorsed Coca-Cola. I wrote a letter to him explaining the health risks of consuming Coca-Cola, mentioning how it was harmful to children and misleading them. I even warned him that if he continued the endorsements, we would stage a protest on Children's Day.”

He continued, “That same day, Allu Aravind called me and said, ‘What is this, Narayana? You are attacking Chiranjeevi with bombs!’ I replied that I hadn’t said anything wrong. Allu Aravind told me they were using the earnings from the advertisement to support Chiranjeevi’s Blood Bank. But I questioned him, asking, ‘How can you earn money by promoting something that spoils blood, only to spend that money on improving blood? Isn’t that unjust?’”

Narayana added, “The next day, he called me again and asked for three months’ time, saying they had an agreement to honor. True to their word, three months later, Chiranjeevi stopped endorsing Coca-Cola. Even when offered more money, he never returned to such ads. That is the spirit one should have.”

Speaking further, Narayana criticized certain actors for misusing their fame for unethical financial gains. He accused them of misleading society by promoting harmful products like betting apps, gutka, pan masala, fraudulent real estate schemes, and deceptive gold businesses.

Narayana expressed frustration over celebrities promoting betting apps, stating, “By endorsing these betting apps, you are ruining the lives of thousands of youth. While some claim they promoted them without awareness, others argue it’s legal. But you must understand that due to your popularity, people easily believe what you promote, leading to severe consequences.”

He urged the government to take strict action against these unethical practices and called for accountability from those who exploit their fame to mislead society. He also highlighted how past icons like Alluri Ramalingaiah used their fame for the betterment of society and advised today’s celebrities to follow a similar path.
