Nanded Woman Sells Miyazaki Mangoes at ₹10,000 Each!

A woman farmer from Nanded, Maharashtra, has successfully sold her mangoes for a remarkable price of ₹10,000 each. The variety of mango commanding such a high price is none other than the world-famous 'Miyazaki' mango, known for its exquisite quality and unique taste. The farmer, Sumanbai Gaikwad, hailing from Bhose village in Nanded district, cultivated these mangoes and sold them at a recent agricultural exhibition.

The journey to grow this premium variety of mango began with her son, Nandkishore, who was preparing for the UPSC exams at a coaching center in Pune. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the coaching center was shut down, forcing him to return home. While continuing his studies from home, Nandkishore discovered the Miyazaki mango, one of the most expensive mangoes globally, through online research.

Intrigued by the idea, he proposed the cultivation of these mangoes to his mother. They then imported 10 saplings from the Philippines at a cost of ₹6,500 each and began cultivation. The planting started two years ago, and this year, the trees produced their first yield, with each tree bearing 10 to 12 mangoes. At the recent agricultural exhibition, these mangoes were sold for an impressive price of ₹10,000 each.
