Political Tensions Rise Over YSR Name Removal from Cricket Stadium

YSRCP leaders have staged a protest against the removal of YSR’s name from the Visakhapatnam International Cricket Stadium. During the ongoing Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions, the coalition government decided to rename YSR District as YSR Kadapa District and remove YSR’s name from Tadigadapa Municipality and the Visakhapatnam Cricket Stadium.

In response, YSRCP leaders have criticized the coalition government’s decision. They called for a protest today, during which party workers and leaders gathered at the cricket stadium in Madhurawada and demonstrated in front of the YSR statue.

The protesters are demanding the restoration of YSR’s name to the stadium, warning that they will intensify their protests across the state if their demand is not met. Notably, IPL matches are scheduled to be held at this stadium on March 24 and 30, prompting the deployment of heavy police security around the venue.
