Sunita Williams and Wilmore’s Return: Trump’s White House Response
Astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore returned safely to Earth in a SpaceX spacecraft early Wednesday morning. Their successful return was widely celebrated across the world.
Following their arrival, U.S. President Donald Trump was asked by the media when he planned to invite them to the White House. Responding to the question, Trump noted that the astronauts had spent an extended period in space, where the lack of gravity leads to significant physical changes. He explained that the human body becomes lighter in space due to the absence of gravitational force.
Trump emphasized that adjusting to Earth's environment after a prolonged stay in space is not easy. Given this, he clarified that he would not be inviting Williams and Wilmore to the White House immediately. Instead, he stated that there would be more time before such an invitation, adding that he would welcome them to the Oval Office once their condition had improved.
