Fire at Pulse Nightclub Kills 59, Injures 155 in North Macedonia

A devastating fire broke out at the Pulse Nightclub in the town of Kocani, North Macedonia, during a live concert, resulting in the deaths of 59 people and leaving 155 others seriously injured. The incident occurred at approximately 2:35 AM when a local pop band was performing.
According to reports, fireworks were ignited as part of the event, causing the ceiling to catch fire. Realizing the danger, the band immediately urged attendees to evacuate. However, amid the ensuing panic and confusion, many struggled to escape. Thick smoke quickly filled the venue, making breathing difficult.
The concert had drawn around 1,500 attendees, primarily young people. Authorities have so far identified 39 of the deceased, while the injured have been transported to hospitals for treatment.
North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy on social media platform X, calling it a tragic day for the country. He lamented the significant loss of young lives and described the incident as an irreparable loss for North Macedonia.
Police have taken one individual into custody in connection with the fire as investigations continue.
