Netizens Criticize Betting App Advertisements in Hyderabad Metro

Hyderabad: Netizens have expressed outrage over advertisements for online betting apps in the Hyderabad Metro, urging authorities to take action. The controversy comes amid an ongoing campaign by IPS officer and TSRTC Managing Director V.C. Sajjanar against betting apps, which he claims are pushing middle-class families into debt and even leading to suicides.
Sajjanar has been actively highlighting the dangers of online betting through Twitter, warning people against falling into financial distress due to such apps. His social media posts have also targeted social media influencers promoting these platforms. Following his remarks, the police responded by arresting several individuals involved in endorsing betting apps.
In the wake of Sajjanar’s campaign, Twitter user Tarun Reddy raised concerns about betting app advertisements appearing in Hyderabad Metro. He urged authorities to intervene, stating: “Sir, thank you for fighting against the betting mafia that has ruined countless lives. While you are battling this issue, online betting app advertisements are openly displayed in Hyderabad Metro. How was such approval granted? Please take action.”
The demand to remove these advertisements has gained traction, with many social media users echoing similar concerns. So far, Hyderabad Metro authorities have not issued an official response regarding the matter.
