The recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy, held in Pakistan and the UAE, received an overwhelming response from cricket fans worldwide. Team India emerged victorious under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, securing the title for the third time. India previously won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
The final match of the tournament, streamed on JioCinema (JioHotstar), shattered viewership records. The India vs. New Zealand final amassed over 90 crore views, marking a historic milestone in digital sports broadcasting.
According to national media reports, the total viewership for the Champions Trophy stood at 540.3 crore views, with a cumulative watch time of 11,000 crore minutes. This figure surpasses the combined populations of India (143 crore) and China (141 crore). Additionally, peak concurrent viewership reached 6.2 crore viewers.
JioCinema Digital CEO Kiran Mani stated, "The ICC Champions Trophy received massive audience engagement, with millions tuning in. The first semi-final match between India and Australia saw a record number of subscriptions in a single day."
He further highlighted that 38% of the total viewership came from Hindi-speaking regions, with Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Punjab, and Haryana contributing significantly.
